Maghull

CBO Transport was commissioned by the landowner, Countryside Properties and Persimmon Homes to prepare a transport strategy for a major urban extension to Maghull in Sefton. The site has a capacity for 2,500 homes.

We advised on how the site should be linked into the existing infrastructure to maximise the use of sustainable travel modes and minimise the implications of additional traffic. The approach included advice on how the benefits of the existing rail connections could be maximised.

Our work on projects of this nature is kept at a high level and focuses on the positive outcomes of developing on this scale such as new public transport services, on site facilities such as schools and shops, networks of walking and cycling routes and provision of significant infrastructure.

Through these representations the LPA have identified the site as a key strategic site allocation in its Draft Local Plan - the allocation is for a mix of housing and employment land. We prepared representations for and attended the Examination in Public (EiP) in support of the allocation.
